Mila is doing great after surgery and her parents report that everything went well.
Today the doctors removed a "large" cataract from one of her eyes. They will do a post-op examination tomorrow morning to determine if and when Mila will have surgery on the other eye. Chances are that they will schedule surgery to remove the cataract from her other eye sometime next week.
Because the lens was removed from Mila's eye during surgery, her vision will still be blurry until a new lens is implanted later in life or she begins to wear contacts or glasses. However, the surgery will enable more light to come in through her eye which should improve her vision dramatically. In fact, the more visual stimulation Mila has, the easier it will be for her to learn to see.
Just in case you need some ideas for Christmas, the Childhood Cataract Network recommends:
"Things with flashing lights are good, bold black-and-white pictures and shapes are good as are mirrors and toys that reflect light, twinkle or are very brightly coloured. Toys with sounds that are made when a toy moves like little bells can help your child to relate what they are hearing to what they're seeing."

Check back often for updates and please leave comments with your thoughts and well wishes for Mila, Travis and Priscilla.
